Task 1: Now that the powerpoint is visible I can see that you have done a good job of researching existing media and bringing the same sensibilities to the layout and design of your own production work. You have chosen a very minimalist style, which is fine for this kind of magazine and you have done it fairly well, but remember that the exam board will be more impressed with something that demonstrates more work. It will be more obvious that you have engaged more deeply with production when you are taking your own photos.

Task 2: As a group, you have taken a really wide variety of different shots and it is clear to see that you have done a lot to experiment with a variety of different lighting styles and focal lengths. This will really help you to make choices when it comes to your first mock assessed piece (the music magazine). This time, as you work on your photographs, take note of the settings that you use for iris, iso and shutter. It is very important that you develop a sense of the settings that work best for different shot types and styles so that you can plan your images carefully and identify the way that light and camera is being used in some of the productions you are using for inspiration. All in all, very encouraging progress. As you produce your music magazine, give a little more attention to using a wider variety of sell lines and think carefully about language choices in the website and contents.

Task 3 Research Presentation is fine but the depth of analysis needs to be more thorough. You have now started working on the real thing, so you need to really look carefully at narrative, semiology (media language) and representation. By the time you finish the analysis you should be able to make a presentation on your chosen genre that would last at least half an hour. Basically, become an expert. Magazine I particularly like the use of lighting on the cover. There is no problem with the minimalist style, but there are still a few key elements that would be worth you including. A tagline, a quotation from the artist and many other things really allow you to demonstrate understanding of representation etc. The contents page is clearly incomplete, which means that I can only award at a low level. There is nothing at all wrong with copying an existing magazine (or any other production). Copy it exactly to start with and then embellish. The quality of the images could easily achieve 17/25, but the incompleteness brings this down to 9/25. Website I quite like your website. The clean lines and the overall layout and stories are fairly convincing, though, just like the magazine, you can copy and copy and copy. Look carefully at the amounts of text and how many images there are and where they are in relation to each other. If you start with something that look exactly like a real website and then stat to embellish it, then you will have something that really works for you. If you use found images, please take care to make sure that they are high quality images. This section is still pretty sparse, but a clear improvement on the magazine and with the potential to be much better. 13/25 Convergence Beyond the images crossing over and one or two small elements of similarity there is almost no convergence here. You need to really consider how the products are intended to interact with each other here. A few small features can make a huge difference to the way that the magazine (or whatever production) and website connect. Consider the purpose carefully. Only 2/10 for this. Total = 24/60 - Which is an E grade.
